Even if you’re a busy Mom with absolutely no time to spare, you’ll learn how to create a few extra minutes to rest and relax before bed. More importantly, you’ll learn why those few minutes will literally change everything else in your busy life.

Chores Before Bedtime
For years after having my first child, I thought a “good Mom” was supposed to get all the “to-do’s” done after the kids went to bed.
After all, a “good Mom” plays with her kids! She doesn’t waste her precious family time with cleaning, cooking, or doing chores.
For years after my kids were born, I’d wait for them to go to bed and then I’d start my evening chores. I’d clean the kitchen, make lunches, and squeeze all the housework into those precious night hours.
I had no idea that I was creating an awful stress cycle.
Looking back, it was almost (almost!) funny. I was working at a snails pace since I was so tired. Though working slow, I was also working as hard as I could! I was determined to have a clean, orderly house!
The sad part was that when my head finally hit the pillow, I was too revved up to sleep. It wasn’t fair! I was exhausted after a busy day, but my mind wouldn’t rest.
I had no idea that doing chores all evening would make me MORE stressed out. Getting things done should have made me feel better!
But it didn’t. Instead, my stress was growing and so was my lack of sleep.

This episode of the podcast is one of my favorites. It is a pivotal episode since so many Moms are like me. We believe we have to push ourselves to get everything done in the evenings. But it’s not good for us!
By adding just a little time to relax, we break the cycle of stress and literally change our lives.
Listen to learn how to add relaxation to your evening routine.
How Do You Make the Time?
In the episode, I share the two major changes I made that helped me free up extra time in my evenings.
First, I do everything earlier. I clean up the house earlier, I put on my PJ’s earlier. I do everything I can while the kids are awake so that as soon as they go to bed, I’ll have more time to myself.
Next, I set boundaries around creeping bedtimes. If the kids go to bed late, it’s almost impossible for me to have a few extra minutes to relax. I therefore set kind but firm boundaries around bedtime so that the kids go to bed on time(ish).
What works for you may be different. Some evenings it won’t be possible to find even a few moments to relax. However, with some tweaks to your routine, you’ll be surprised that most nights, you can weave a few extra minutes into your evening.
The Result
When you spend a few minutes before bed relaxing, everything in your life changes. Your stress level get’s better. Your sleep quality improves.
Those few minutes before bed are pivotal for recharging your life.
Without it, one day feels like the next. You feel like you’re a hamster wheel and can’t get off.
