A supportive evening routine is one of the biggest secrets for creating balance in your life. It’s like chocolate cake. Sure, you can live without it, but why would you?
Routines may sound like a simple thing, but your evening routine is the foundation for everything else in your life.
If you don’t have the right routine, your sleep may suffer, your house may be a mess, and your morning may be frantic. That’s not a fun way to live your life, but if you’re a busy Mom, it may be your reality.
However, the right evening routine can help turn everything around. It can help you create a yummy balanced life so you can finally relax and get off the hamster wheel of stress.

What a Great Evening Routine Should Include
A great evening routine should have three parts
- A little cleaning. Cleaning for even a few minutes each night will make a HUGE difference in how your house looks overall. I can’t promise your house will look perfect the next day, but it will be better. In this step, the secret is to clean the same things each night so that it becomes a habit. The more habits you build, the easier this step gets!
- Preparation for the next day. Spending a few minutes making lunches or finding your keys will help you get out the door faster the next day. You’ll start the day feeling prepared instead of behind (plus you’ll have a healthy lunch!).
- Time to relax away from screens. Relaxing in the evenings is crucial for balance. I actually have a whole podcast episode about it! Click here to listen. You can’t expect to feel balanced if you keep running from one chore to the next without ever taking a break. Adding even just a few minutes of relaxation to your evening routine is absolutely essential for your mental health.
